Environment
Environment protection is Recylux core activity as we are developing our collection, sorting and recycling services and using innovative technologies to optimize all of our industrial operations.
While making recycling easier, we contribute every day to preserve the raw materials resources, reduce the amount of ultimate waste sent to landfill sites and lower the global greenhouse gas emission produced by the metallurgical industry.
According to FEDEREC, the french federation of recycling companies, compared to 1 tonne of new steel, 1 tonne of recycled steel enables to:
- Save 74% energy
- Decrease by 40% the water consumption
- Decrease by 86% the atmospheric pollution
- Decrease by 76% the water pollution
The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) commisioned a survey in 70 countries which revealed that the recycling of aluminium, copper, iron, lead, nickel, tin and zinc along with the recycling of paper has allowed to save 551 millions tonnes of CO2 in 2007. These figures represent 1,8% of the global carbon dioxide emissions.
Participating to the recycling of more than a million of tonnes of metal each year, Recylux plays a major part in the reduction of CO2 emissions and avoids the pollution of hundreds of thousands cubic meters of water in the world.
Recylux considers the environmental conservation to be one of its basic values and develops a environmental management system on the group scale. Consequently, most of the sites are already certified ISO 14 001.
Among the recent actions in support of the environmental conservation that have been taken before the regulation obligations, we can mention:
- The creation of a system for the recycling of automobile crushing wastes
- The creation of a depollution device for end of life vehicles
During the management phases of the development projects, Recylux draws up a report in order to improve the performance of the processes in terms of energy and water consumption and reduction of the ultimate waste to be eliminated. This approach of environmental improvment also enables us identify the saving departments (reduction of water and energy consumption,…).
